NEWS: New SIM NZ Director Seeks to Export Kiwi Ingenuity

Seeking to Export Kiwi IngenuitySIM New Zealand has a new Director from January of this year.  Nigel Webb is a gifted leader and his passion is to see the work of SIM continue to grow.

"I believe that New Zealanders still have a key role to play in God’s mission to the world," Nigel says. "God has made us with Kiwi ingenuity, our No.8 wire mentality.  Whether it's in the hard places of the world or in multi-cultural teams this ingenuity is a strength that will help the Kingdom advance.  As missionaries we are not super-heroes just servant leaders – mere servants of Christ who have been put in charge of explaining God's mysteries (1 Co.4:1).  As we seek to know our God more, he gives us boldness to do great exploits in his power and love (Daniel 11:32b)."

Nigel & Richelle WebbNigel and Richelle Webb, along with their two boys Caleb (11) and Isaac (9) recently returned from Guayaquil, Ecuador, where they have served since 1998 in areas such as evangelism and discipleship, ministry to prostitutes and theological education by extension, as well as leadership within SIM Ecuador. Over the last few years Nigel has worked primarily in leadership development and mentoring within a house church movement of over 100 churches called La Iglesia en Tu Casa as well as in missions mobilization with COMEC, a grassroots missions network in Ecuador.

When asked about this experience, Nigel says, “We have seen ordinary people successfully planting healthy house churches in God’s strength, Christians ministering to the elderly and those living with AIDS, national co-workers taking up leadership and considering missions, associates with us for short-terms injecting vitality into ministries, the Word of God changing leaders’ perspective and lifestyle – it’s exciting to be part of what God is doing in the world.”  Nigel’s heartbeat for missions shines through and he wants to mentor many New Zealanders into missions as they catch a vision of what God can do in and through them all around the globe.

There was a celebration service on Sunday 25th February 2.30pm at East View Baptist Church, Botany to farewell Chris and Helen Cowie, the former SIM NZ Director, and welcome Nigel and Richelle.
