SIM chooses to exist by faith, which means we rely on God's provision.
How does this work?
Almost all of our funds come from gifts - loving, committed and often sacrificial. In addition SIM NZ receives interest on funds invested and from legacies.
Behind all this are the prayers of God's people, praying that the God of all the earth would move people to give. If people don't give, the work we do will stop.
Where does the money go?
SIM's financial policy aims to ensure the most effective use of your gifts. Through it, those who send and those who are sent become partners in the ministry of preaching the gospel and establishing the church around the world.
Any funds allocated to a specific ministry or project is used for that purpose.
Gifts can be given towards:
- Missionary Support - this includes funds for daily living, medical expenses, children’s education, housing, retirement provision and travel to and from their country of service.
- Specific Projects or Ministries - Donors may send gifts marked for use in a specific ministry area or project. Such funds are always used as designated.
- Where most needed - Gifts to this fund are put to urgent needs at the discretion of the Director.
- SIM NZ Administration - These are used to cover the cost of general administration involved in sending and supporting missionaries, specific ministries or projects and encouraging people to get involved in mission.
SIM NZ can accept gifts by cheque, automatic payment, direct debit, internet banking or credit card. Your giving can be organised online.
Receipts eligible for tax rebate are issued for home staff support and SIM NZ Administration. Unfortunately, this does not apply for gifts designated for missionaries serving overseas, projects and “where most needed”.
Thank you for considering being a financial partner with SIM.
