Please continue to pray earnestly for our team in Abidjan as pro-Outtara forces have launched a full-on assault on the city. From the wife of our SIM Director in Cote d'Ivoire (she is outside the country and is in phone contact with him in Abidjan):
"They just lost electricity. Intense fighting is going on in Abidjan, and something is happening fairly close to where we live. They heard shells or bullets whistling, and spent about two hours sheltering in the hallway. Before that, from the balcony they could see the military camp and munitions dump on fire.
Phones are not working, so he is not able to check if people are OK. Please pray that God will keep him safe, along with our colleagues and many friends, and that this will end soon."

Fiona and Alan Murray are about to head off to Chiang Mai, Thailand for a short placement. We wanted to share with you some of what has gone into this preparation and what happens as they travel and experience life in Thailand.

As single people God was already pulling on our heart strings for His world. Fiona was teaching English both as a job & also as a ministry. Through these experiences she met people from many nations, but particularly from Asia. After visits & mission trips into Asia, & working for SIM NZ, Fiona’s longing to serve in Asia grew. Alan also met many from this part of the world, & through his work he established ongoing friendships. God then placed within him a passion for child trafficking prevention & his journey there began.
It was after they met they realized their similar geographical calling. So, after 16 months of marriage, they will embark on a short term placement in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
They will be connected with organizations involved in the prevention of child trafficking. Alan will be using his IT & website development skills, Fiona will be using her English teaching & administrative skills to support these groups in what they are doing.
What are they looking forward to? They are simply looking forward to whatever God has in store as they explore His heart for what God is calling them to. They are also looking forward to being immersed in a completely different culture & all that comes with this!
You can follow along part of the journey here or contact Fiona & Alan direct to receive their updates.

Here I am with my family as Director at Bingham Academy, an inter-mission school for students aged 5 – 17 years, in Addis Ababa Ethiopia... doing a ‘three cheek’ greeting with the Ugandan Ambassador in the car park, sharing the purpose of our daily Bible teaching sessions throughout the school with Muslim parents wanting to enroll their children, figuring the logistics of what to do with a potentially rabid monkey brought to school by one of our national staff, building relationships with staff, students and parents from around thirty different countries...
