Japan Earthquake & Tsunami Response

Please pray for Japan and all parties involved in the recovery and response. This update is via our international office.

On March 11, 2011, an earthquake of 9.0 magnitude struck the east coast of Japan, 250 miles north of Tokyo. This is the fifth largest recorded earthquake in the world. A massive tsunami followed. The death toll may rise to 10,000, with millions more stranded and homeless. Please pray with us:

  • for safe and swift rescue efforts
  • for the high-magnitude aftershocks to subside
  • for survivors as they deal with devastating losses
  • for children who have witnessed this tragedy and who are the most physically, emotionally, and mentally vulnerable
  • for the church in Japan as they seek to be the hands and feet of Christ
  • for the Holy Spirit to move in unprecedented ways among the Japanese people

All SIM personnel are accounted for and safe. Thank you for your prayers.
